Utilising c4d to achieve fluid motion in a 2D style for my short film ‘Gaiety’

In this process video i used super simple techniques to move around some geometry in 3D space. The style of the film was in 2D but i knew that it would be much more efficient to move them in a 3D software and composite them to look 2D, rather than handrawing it all. I used C4D and AE for this scene. Watch ‘Gaeity’ here.

Mixing 3D and 2D pipelines to achieve a morphing transition

This was super fun, i love transitions that are seamless. I used the rectangle from the previous scene to wipe the composition and reveal the next scene, which i then experiemnted with c4D and AE technqiues to create a little abstract morph to symbolise the characters journey beginning. Using C4D and AE to create a trippy tunnel

I’ve seen a lot of techniques to create these kind of tunnels but wanted to try my own as creating this short was a lot about experimenting. This was really fun and turned out to be super easy! Watch ‘Gaeity’ here.

Walkcycle + Environment Breakdown

This is a breakdown video for a walkcycle and environment in my Whoops” Loop for Loopdeloop. I wanted to try building everything on the character inside of AE to make sure i could be as flexible as i wanted within the program and this worked great. This project overall helped me solidify my process for character rigging inside AE and my efficiency with the program.

Head Rig Breakdown

This is a short process video showing how i went about rigging and animating a character for a scene in my Whoops” Loop for Loopdeloop. This project focused on trying to be more efficient in AE and to cut down on how long it takes me to do things overall.

Scene Breakdown

For my graduate film (unreleased) i needed to figure out a way to portray the characters walking through the environment on a frontview. I found the best solution was to break up assets of the environment and place them in 3D space, shine light through gaps and use the camera in AE to move through them.

Peggy Walkcycle Breakdown

This is a simple process video showing how i broke up the assets of my character Peggy and animated a walkcycle for “Day in the life - Peggy”. This is where i began to find a process for building characters in AE.
